La oscuridad
Bernardina Jimenez-Delacruz
Refran: "Even if you are locked in the darkness,
there is always a way out.
The more you consume,
the more need you have to do it."
Card Description: For my Lottery card I wanted to share my thoughts on The Darkness. I chose the topic because they represent those people who cannot give up drugs and live trapped in the darkness. The colors of the piece represent drug addiction to people who live with the need to get high. The images in the piece represent people who cannot overcome and face addiction and who live thinking that drugs are a necessity. For me personally, this card represents a depressed person and ruining their life with drugs. I want the audience to see that drugs can slowly destroy you without realizing it.
Student Biography: My name is Bernardina jimenez and I am a senior at Santa Maria High School. I live in Santa Maria, California with my mom and my 5 siblings My family is from Mexico. What inspired me to get my lottery card was how people draw an image that has many meanings and I found it interesting. The artistic process was of those people who were trapped in the drug, who cannot overcome the drug and remain trapped in the darkness. I haven't thought about my plans yet.
