Los trabajadores..
Javier Avalos-Cervantes
Refran: "we workers be working everyday everyday till the day i die"
Card Description: .For my Loteria Card I wanted to share my thoughts on Mexican Workers. I chose Mexican Workers as a subject matter because almost every Mexican immigrant that comes to the US are field workers or construction. Also, they end up working more then most of the people. The colors in the piece represent the things they do. The images in the piece represent how Mexican workers work every day and the struggles they go through . For me personally, this card represents me of my dad because he works 6 days a week and is exhausted of his job already but he keeps going. I want the audience to see the struggles and the hard work Mexican workers go through
Student Biography: My name is Javier Avalos and I am a senior at Santa Maria High School. I live in Santa Maria, California with my mom, dad and two older brothers. My family is from Mexico. In my Loteria card, I chose to represent Mexican Workers. What inspired me to draw my Loteria card was that my dad is a full-time worker. He works 6 days a week. The artistic process was fun and challenging specially with blending colors. Life after high school will be scary but exciting at the same time because Ima be entering the real world and Ima be in charge with all my life decisions from there. So therefore, I’m looking forward to it.
